Statement from Celtic Dragons

admin

It has been a very challenging time for netballers and their clubs across Wales and it has been no exception for the Celtic Dragons squad.

Since the suspension of netball activity in Wales, Celtic Dragons’ Superleague squad has been unable to meet and train together in person, which has been incredibly difficult for our athletes. Nevertheless, the squad has been in good spirits, keeping in touch via regular catch-ups, remote training sessions and engaging on social media.

The decision has now been made to furlough the Celtic Dragons squad. This will help protect the franchise and its programmes and will mean that we will be ready and hungry to hit the court once again when netball resumes.

Furloughing our Superleague squad means that they cannot undertake any work for the franchise, so our Superleague athletes may seem quiet on our digital channels over the next few weeks, though they may still be posting in a personal capacity. However, franchise and Welsh Netball staff remain at work and any developments news from Celtic Dragons and the Superleague will be communicated to you as early as possible.

Our focus remains keeping our athletes, staff and volunteers safe and well, as well as keeping our fans fully updated throughout the COVID-19. As ever, we encourage our fans to keep an eye on our website and social media channels for all the latest news and to follow all the latest advice from the UK and Welsh Governments and Public Health Wales.
