Celtic Dragons are pleased to share the news that goal-keeper Stacian Facey has been selected to represent Jamaica at the 2019 Netball World Cup in Liverpool this July. Stacian joins a Sunshine Girls squad that has enjoyed huge success in recent years, winning silver at Fast5 and bronze in the Commonwealth Games last year.
Facey, 25, is a student of physical education and made her big break internationally by being selected for the Jamaican team at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She names Aussie legend, Jill McIntosh as a netball heroine as she helped Stacian develop “a whole different view on netball” and build her confidence as a player.
On hearing of Stacian’s inclusion in the Jamaican squad, head coach Tania Hoffman said: “We are delighted that Stacian has been selected in the Jamaican team for the upcoming Netball World Cup in July.
“Stacian has been an integral member of Celtic Dragons, and we will be looking forward to supporting her and the Jamaican team in their quest for a medal.”
Everyone from Celtic Dragons and across Wales’ netball community would like to wish Stacian the very best of luck at the World Cup. Dragons fans eagerly await to see if any of their other international favourites will also grace the court this summer in Liverpool!
