Celtic Dragons v Mavericks Monday 7th March
Round eight, Monday and on the road again to Hertfordshire to play the Mavericks, a sell-out crowd and a televised game. The starting seven Georgia, Afa, Beth, Kyra, Suzy, Becky and Epi. After two back to back wins the mood in the camp was positive, the players knew they had to start the game strongly, which they did going in at the end of the first quarter only two goals separating the team 15 – 13. In the second quarter the Mavericks took hold of the game disrupted the flow of the Dragons outscoring the Celtic team 14 goal to 6.
Celtic Dragons made changes to their defensive end of the court going into the third. Kelly Morgan replaced Becky Oatley at Goal Defence and Mel Steingass came on to Wing defence replacing Captain Suzy Drane. Georgia Rowe calls time for an injury and is replaced with Afa moving to goal shooter and Sara Bell came onto goal attack, a tight scoring quarter with 15 goals to Mavericks and 13 goals to Celtic Dragons.
A big push required from the Dragons for the fourth quarter but Mavericks had other ideas and went on to outscore the Dragons by 13 goals final score of the match was 67 – 45 to a very strong Mavericks team. Mavericks climb to top of the Vitality Netball super league table.
Next game for the Celtic Dragons is at home on Saturday March 19th against Thunder doors open 3.45pm, Junior Dragons game starting at 4.45pm.
