Celtic Dragons v Team Northumbria
Friday March 4th and the Sport Wales National centre was buzzing with excitement and anticipation for the game against Team Northumbria. Both teams were welcomed onto court with a crowd of green army supporters making it a cauldron of noise cheering on their netball heroes.
After losing the first quarter 10 -12 the Dragons came out in the second quarter taking a five lead goal lead winning the quarter 17 goals to 10. The third quarter was a hard fought battle with Team Northumbria winning the quarter 12 goals to 10 but the Dragons held onto a an overall score of 39 goal to 36. Final quarter the Dragons showed grit and determination and took the game 53 -45 making it two back to back wins.
A huge thank you to our Green army supporters who were like having an eighth player on the court.
Becky Oatley was named the Celtic Dragon player of the match and was presented with her flowers by from Llanilltud Faerdref Primary school ‘Our player of the match’ sponsor.
Our mascots for the game were Merthyr minis they proudly walked out with the players and cheered loudly throughout the game, well done girls.
