The Celtic Dragons are back on the hunt for their first Superleague win at their next away game against Manchester Thunder, on Saturday 11 March.

In their first three matches, the Celtic Dragons have shown the potential that this group of players can bring to the new-look Superleague.  The Dragons are more determined than ever to put out a solid, consistent performance.

Defender Lois Rideout says the team are ‘fizzed up’ and anticipates a very exciting game against the former Superleague Champions.

“The squad is feeling fizzed up for the game on Saturday and we’re hungry for our first win,” says 25-year-old Rideout, who is new to the Dragons squad this season.

Manchester Thunder finished in second place at VNSL 2016 and have won one of three games so far, and will also be eager to steal a win at home at the Thunderdome.

“This is going to be one heck of a game,” says Rideout, “Thunder have a strong team, and having played them twice during our preseason build-up we feel prepped and ready.”

“We’re excited to see our North Wales Green Army fans there, too, they’re always so loud and proud and it means such a lot to see that they’ve travelled to support us. They bring such good energy, which we feel on the court.”

Head Coach Trish Wilcox says:

“We have performed exceptionally well for half of the game in the first three rounds and although we have shown what we are capable of it is time to put out a consistent full game performance.

“The team have trained well this week and have been focusing on rectifying the key areas that have caused some of the inconsistencies

“We are looking forward to playing in Manchester where we have a strong Green Army fan base,” adds Wilcox.

Celtic Dragons will return to their home venue at Sport Wales National Centre, Cardiff for their series of home fixtures starting on 3 April against Loughborough Lightning.
