Celtic Dragons have accepted a disciplinary sanction from the Vitality Netball Superleague for a minor breach of the competition rules during the 2021 season.
During a fixture against Surrey Storm on 22 February, Dragons breached Section C, rule 1.1.3.1 of the VNSL rules, whereby more than one ‘import’ player was on the court at a specific time within the attacking (GS or GA) positions. This took place for a limited time (39 seconds) and was late in the match, with Dragons not gaining any kind of competitive advantage.
As a result of the breach, Celtic Dragons have incurred a £500 fine, as well as a deduction of three league points as a suspended sanction which will be applied should we breach this rule again during the 2021 season.
Director of Netball, Tania Hoffman said: “Unfortunately an error was made when our two overseas players were put into the same area of the court for a short period of time. We recognise that was in breach of the VNSL rules and accept the sanction accordingly.”
