Cardiff Dragons is pleased to announce a new training facilities partnership with Cardiff University. This new partnership is set to strengthen both organisations’ netball profiles ahead of the 2024 Netball Super League season.
The partnership will provide the newly named Cardiff Dragons with their training facility needs, as we prepare for the season ahead.
About the partnership Cardiff Dragons CEO, Vicki Sutton said “We are thrilled to be entering into this partnership with Cardiff University. Stuart and the team share our vision for the franchise and are incredibly supportive at what is an exciting time for us. Cardiff University has produced some very talented Netballers over the years including our very own Dragon Nansi Kuti who makes her Super Legue debut this season.”
Cardiff University’s Head of Sport, Stuart Vanstone said: “We are delighted to welcome the Cardiff Dragons to Cardiff University and be the official training facility partner for the super league club. This announcement comes shortly after we confirmed that Cardiff Dragons and Welsh senior international Nia Jones will be leading our student netball performance programmes this year.
“Our netball programme is one of the biggest in the UK with 60 intramural teams and nine team playing BUCS competition. Over 1,200 Cardiff University students play netball each week in our programmes. Our student programmes are complemented by our junior development centre for Netball which boast 150 girls aged 9-16.
“We also host the successful Welsh Netball regional development centre consisting of the most talented under 15s and 17s in the region. Hosting the Cardiff Dragons will be aspirational for our students and age grade programmes as we welcome a super league club to the University.
“All of us at the University wish the Dragons well for the season ahead.”
